Charles Barron’s deadline

City Councilman Charles Barron, the black nationalist wild card in the 2005 mayor’s contest, tells us he’ll pull out March 31 unless he raises $250,000, enough to get him public matching funds.

The Sharpton-endorsed councilman said that if he doesn’t run, “We’ll look at which candidate is going to best meet our agenda as black people…What I’m really concerned about is that there not be a white-latino hookup that leaves black out.”
