Kalikow’s Choice?

Sure, a majority of the MTA board favors the Jets proposal for the West Side, but chairman Peter Kalikow just may have his own reasons to prefer Cablevision.

He’s pals with Rand Araskog, who was recently named to the board of Cablevision and also sits on the board of several other companies, including ITT and Rayonier, a forestry products company, and was formerly on the board of Hartford Financial and Starwood Hotels. According to Kalikow’s 2004 financial disclosure forms, he owns stock in six companies – three of them are Starwood, Rayonier and Hartford Financial and he earns interest income from ITT.
