It pays to be an early riser when helping out Queens Republican GOP boss Serph Maltese.

That’s the lesson from yesterday’s petition fight at the Board of Elections, where a Commissioner told the lawyer helping Maltese “you can’t just give us something off the web.”

To that, the lawyer helping Maltese apologized, and replied, “I was only retained this morning.”
