New Yorkers support subway bag searches by a 72 – 25 percent margin, according to a Quinnipiac poll released this morning.
Republicans favored searches by a margin of 89-9 percent; Democrats, by a 67 – 29 percent margin; and independent voters, by a 71 – 25 percent margin.
Azi just told me that he weathered his first search this Wednesday at the 179th St. and Hillside Ave. subway stop in Queens. The searchers were amply rewarded:
“They found out I was carrying some papers from work, a discarded book jacket, and dental floss in my bag,” Azi notes.
