Tomorrow morning, the folks in Giff’s campaign camp will toss a new ad into the candidate’s televised arsenal. It’s called “17” and you can watch it here.
I like this commerical’s rather literal focus on Giff’s “17 Seats” platform. We him pushing empty desks around an eerily vacant classroom. Eventually, some of them disappear! The remaining 17 fill up with children, who answer his new battle cry – “What are we waiting for?” – with an ebullient and youthful: “Gifford Miller!”
The shortage of supplies and even furniture in some city schools, however, suggests a pitfall of approaching the “17 Seats” slogan literally. Perhaps he needs to be more specific. I’m thinking: “17 Students…in 17 Seats.”
