While the $47 million terminal won't be completed until April of next year, when the Queen Mary 2 will be the first ship to officially berth there, the 1,900-passenger Oriana made an unscheduled stop in Red Hook because the cruise-ship terminals on Manhattan's West Side were all occupied with other vessels.

There were police officers on all the side streets when The Real Estate took this photo; Mayor Bloomberg was on hand to greet the ship, and passengers were bused out of the neighborhood before they could hit any of the local amenities, such as the garbage-truck-parking facility, the nearby attack dogs in a spooky, fenced-off lot and one of our favorite bars, the Bait & Tackle.
