Hey, if it can’t get you to work on time, will the M.T.A. get you out of harm’s way in an emergency? City Councilor John C. Liu knocked the city’s Office of Emergency Management at a hearing today for relying too much on the transit authority in case of a hurricane evacuation. “The M.T.A. is just not ready to handle emergency situations,” he said. “Even its ability to communicate, both internally and with the public, during emergencies is extremely limited.” Nor was Assemblymember Richard Brodsky impressed. He told WNYC: “The plan is not effectively or efficiently put forward.” Brodsky, who is running for state attorney general, gets another whack at Commissioner Joseph Bruno at a legislative hearing Thursday. Bring your lunch.
