A WNBC-Marist poll out later today has Ferrer: 32, Weiner: 30 among likely voters. The numbers seem to reflect undecided voters breaking nearly unanimously for Anthony, although his supporters could still change their minds.
And so, increasingly over the last week, a number of people have had to seriously consider that concept for the first time. Mayor Weiner? One imagines that, at some point during the 1977 campaign, there was a similar reaction of disbelief to the words “Mayor Koch.”
He’s still an outsider for the nomination, and a very long shot if he wins it. But Mayor Weiner has now passed into the realm of the possible.
