On The Issues

Gotham Gazette has a handy grid of the candidates’ positions on various important issues, a useful tool for the many undecided readers of this site.

One fact the grid brings out: For all his talk of being a different kind of Democrat, and for all his differences in style from the others, there are only two places on the grid where Anthony Weiner stands out, both subsidiary issues: he opposes an amnesty for illegal aliens; and he flatly opposes congestion pricing.

On the key issues, he’s well within the New York mainstream. His conservative-sounding “tax cut” plan, for example, is actually a move to make the income tax more steeply progressive, a solidly liberal notion.
