Candidates for the job of Public Advocate are a bit distressed by the process the Daily News went through for its heartfelt endorsement today of Betsy Gotbaum.
Emails one campaign insider:
“NYDN first said they weren’t going to do a endorsement at all. Then they reversed course and said they were and wanted to interview the candidates…not in person but via telephone with a single editorial board writer. How they came to their joint conclusion, with only one person on the ed board talking to each candidate is something that NYDN could maybe answer.”
Candidates for Public Advocate get no respect. Unlike, you know, whoever winds up Public Advocate.
