11th Heating Up

That congressional race in the 11th district in Brooklyn is continuing to shape up as one worth watching.

People around Eliot Spitzer tell The Politicker that he’s committed to helping his former campaign aide Carl Andrews take the seat.

Meanwhile, David Yassky has his campaign up and running, with an email to supporters announcing his choice and scheduling three fund-raisers:

“I am writing to let you know that I have decided to run for Congress in next year’s elections…. I am running because I believe firmly that we need to change the direction in which Congress is taking our country, and I also believe I can provide the energetic and effective representation in Washington that New Yorkers urgently need…

“One major task will be working to change my own party, the Democrats. Too often, we have failed to present a clear, substantive alternative to the Republican agenda…

“The race I am entering will be very competitive. Four other candidates have declared their intention to run: another City Council Member, two state legislators, and the son of the retiring incumbent.”
