Who’s winning the battle of the front pages?

The Daily News strains so hard to be sentimental about Officer Dillon Stewart, it comes off cold-blooded–particularly in the use of the second-person-intrusive “OUR HERO.” The King Kong teaser across the bottom doesn’t help.
The Post, on the other hand, somehow goes over the top through understatement: plain composition, an upper-and-lower-case headline and a tightly cropped, closer-than-close photo.
Winner: New York Post
Overall standings: Daily News 14, New York Post 11
