BJ’s on a Budget

City Councilors are moving towards an agreement with The Related Companies that would force stores in the proposed Bronx Gateway Mall—namely BJ’s—to accept food stamps and W.I.C., and to offer 1,000 free memberships to low-income families, according to a source. But if negotiations are successful, the councilors are unlikely to block the proposal, which the Land Use Committee will vote on Wednesday morning.
