Exclusive: Whitehead’s Candidate

John C. Whitehead, the Republican Wall-Streeter, Ground Zero (non-) builder, and Spitzer enemy, has apparently chosen a candidate to replace Spitzer as New York State Attorney General.

A Democrat, no less.

Whitehead has given $10,000 to Denise O’Donnell, a former U.S. Attorney from Buffalo. His second contribution, January 2, came well after he launched the “threatening Eliot” meme on the op-ed page of the Wall Street Journal.

Worth noting that O’Donnell has had nothing but praise for Eliot, and has argued that she’s the one best suited to keeping the office running in Spitzer’s tradition. Of going after Wall Street guys, one presumes.
