The Daily News goes international, with the same photo of a stricken Israeli soldier that The New York Sun used. But why pick up the News over the Sun? Or for that matter, why pick up today’s SHARON AILING front page over yesterday’s?

The Post, on the other hand, hooks readers with an image of a dying miner’s farewell note. It’s a rare stop-and-peruse front for the quick-hit Posties–though the perusal is harder than it needs to be, thanks to the note being squeezed down to make room for Jeremy Shockey.

Winner: New York Post

Overall standings: Daily News 16, New York Post 20
