Word is from Community Board 4 that the General Theological Seminary has postponed its application to the Landmarks Preservation Commission for its 17-story mixed-use project at the site of its Sherrill Hall on Ninth Avenue between 20th and 21st streets. Check out our previous coverage here.
Could it be a result of the board’s mustering of opposition before the building was formally presented? Plenty of neighborhood folks are up in arms over the building’s scale–and the fact that it could set an ugly precedent for the ‘hood.
UPDATE: A spokesperson from the General Theological Seminary e-mailed to say that the Community Board has got it wrong: GTS is still going before Landmarks, it just hasn’t been scheduled yet.
