Chris swung the axe, deep, at City Hall today, firing 60 members of the Council’s central staff, including the body’s finance chief, Larian Angelo.

Also hard hit were the press office and legal divisions, sources said.

Many patronage appointees, no doubt, were protected, but some people thought to have protectors were fired anyway. It is, among other things, another instance of Chris not repeating what are seen as her predecessor’s mistakes.
