powerHouse Books announced a deal today with Two Trees Management for real estate in DUMBO. The publishing house/bookstore/gallery, formerly of Charlton Street in downtown Manhattan, was facing homelessness.

But now they’ve gone from nearly-on-the-streets to a massive 10,200 square foot, two-storey space at 37 Main Street. Two Trees can afford what is surely a generous deal: a corporate city-state unto themselves, they are the second-largest commercial landowners in Brooklyn.

The publisher of powerHouse Books, Daniel Power, said in a press release that the new space would be “a laboratory of thought.”
