Eagleton, Star-Ledger split up

The 23-year partnership between the Center for Public Interest Polling at Rutgers University’s Eagleton Institute of Politics and the Star-Ledger has come to an end, with the state’s largest newspaper no longer sponsoring political polls conducted by Eagleton. Eagleton, which has been been conducting surveys of New Jersey voters since 1971, released a poll on the ’06 U.S. Senate race yesterday — two days after the Star-Ledger released a poll on the ’06 race for Mayor of Newark conducted by Blum & Weprin Associates. The New York-based firm has been providing independent polls for the media for more than two years; past clients have included the New York Times, the New York Daily News, NBC News, and the Los Angeles Times.
