Gas Prices: What’s the Downside?

I'm tired of the endless bellyaching about gas prices on the network news. I know, $4 gas hurts the economy and keeps obese families from taking SUV vacations to the shore.

Now think of the upside: It puts some kind of brake on global warming, which the Bush Administration has thumbed its nose at. Shouldn't environmentalists be cheering that? And maybe people would be better off if they were sitting at home more. Maybe they'd—don't say it, read.
