Fresh off victories in the battle for new baseball stadiums, Albany money and Ground Zero, Bloomberg focused on another big picture goal dear to his heart (and future ambitions?) by anouncing today the filing of a lawsuit against gun dealers who he says sold firearms in violation of federal law.

According to a release issued by Mike's office, "Mayor Bloomberg is using a comprehensive three-pronged approach of stronger enforcement, new legislation and innovative litigation to combat illegal guns."

If Bloomberg does have hopes for higher (much higher) office, these are the sorts of prongs that could come back to hurt him with some Republicans.
