A quick side note to Jason’s earlier post about the Mayor’s budget. It seems that Mike and Christine are repeating each other’s sentences.
From Quinn’s budget response speech:
“President Kennedy said that the time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.”
Mike at City Hall today:
“The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.”
The mayor no doubt was aware that Quinn had also quoted Kennedy, so the question is, does this all signal that the two are actually in sync for this year’s budget dance?

UPDATE: Well, maybe not. Here is what Speaker Quinn had to say about the budget.
I am disappointed, however, that the Mayor failed to restore funding to the many vital programs and services his budget proposes cutting — like libraries, arts organizations and health programs. The Council will continue to advocate for restoring this funding throughout the budget negotiating process, and I am confident that, as in years past, we will reach an agreement that protects these services.
