The Loretta Winters Award

Washington Township Mayor/Assemblyman Paul Moriarty wants the U.S. Attorney to investigate a fundraising appeal from three candidates for the Washington Township Council that are challenging a Moriarty-backed slate in the Democratic primary. A fundraising appeal for Mark Baratti, Bob Abbott and Ron Lucarini said: “We are asking for donations of $300… Help us help you.” Moriarty says that the letter went to municipal vendors. Pay-to-play poster child Loretta Winters, was a Monroe Township Councilwoman when she wrote vendors asking for $500 contributions , saying “we look forward to continued business with your firm.” Winters lost her re-election bid, but was hired by the McGreevey administration to run the state Motor Vehicle Center in Williamstown.
