Gwen Anderson makes a good comment on my post on rising realist scholar Trita Parsi:

At the end of the day, it is the American Right will defeat the neo-cons, not the impotent Left.

A similar point was made to me earlier this year by LRB editor Mary-Kay Wilmers in an article I wrote for the Nation, : "It seems that the American left is also claimed by the Israel lobby."

The issue here is: What part of the American intelligentsia will take on the neocons? Why not Anderson's "impotent left"? The reason the left is hamstrung on this issue is that it is divided over a central issue for the Iraq-war-braintrust: Israel. If you look at the
