Would-be Attorney General Sean Patrick Maloney may be at five percent in the latest Q poll, but that isn’t stopping a clutch of fashion-media-movie types from hosting a big old birthday party fund-raiser for him on July 10th. In honor of his 40th, socialite-seamstress Diane von Furstenberg and her mogul husband Barry Diller are headlining an event with glasses guru Marc Jacobs, CAA managing director Bryan Lourd, and dancer-turned-director Adam Shankman, among others. Clinton era martyr, Susan Thomases, will also be on hand to support Mr. Maloney, a Clinton era guy.

Our question is: when the big night rolls around, will they really introduce him as the next attorney general of the state?
