FRANCESCA: We’re getting married in less than two weeks, and I am crazy impatient. It seems unreasonably far away, like the homestretch in a marathon.
It used to be that I asked B to elope once a week, now I ask him every day.
The hardest work in planning is behind us, now it’s all those devilish little details that are nibbling away at us. For example, we need to print out the table numbers, we need to make sure that there is a ladder at the site to put up Chinese string lanterns, we need to find a babysitter to take care of my friend’s baby. Now multiply those finer points by 20 and you’ll get a sense of what it’s like.
It’s almost like busy work the substitute teacher gave you in third grade: you have to do it, but you can’t wait for class to be over. Bring on W-day already!
