Camp Charlie

If everything goes according to plan and Charlie Rangel finally gets to chair the House Ways and Means Committee, he wants to start out on the right foot with his Republican colleagues and host a sort of tax retreat somewhere off the Hill in January or February.

“No spouses,” Rangel said. “Bring in the administration let them talk to us about things that they want so that they know that there is not going to be a political clash.”

He added that one of his most important tasks will be convincing the younger Democratic members of Congress not to “try and get even.”
