Today’s news that iconic-yet-creepy South Brooklyn Casket Company might be (dearly) departing Gowanus has prompted a flurry of bad elegiac jokes.
According to Brooklyn Papers:
The company is looking at industrial sites in Long Island City — and neighbors are treating it like a funeral.
And when the lot goes on the market?
They’ll make a killing selling their property.
Curbed then piles on the wisecracking dirt with a nice set up about the coffin makers’ inevitable condominium replacement:
