Spitzer’s Mockery, Rivera’s Problem

Eliot Spitzer and the independent screening panel are making “a mockery” of the comptroller selection process, Assemblyman Jose Rivera just told me.

“If we pick someone that Spitzer wants, what happens to the constitution of the state of New York? I become a rubber stamp. Nobody elected me to be a rubber stamp. And if we chose our own guy, somebody will write we made a mockery out of this.

“Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.”
