Thompson: What Pay to Play?

Mike Bloomberg’s call during his State of the City speech today to eliminate “pay to play” in the city wasn’t met with universal applause.

“Its a great catch phrase but what does it mean?” asked city Comptroller Bill Thompson after the speech.

Referring to the contribution limit for citywide candidates, Thompson said, “I don’t see pay to play on the 5,000 level.”
