10:30 a.m. Queens Borough President Helen Marshall will hold a public hearing on land use at the Borough President’s Conference Room, 120-55 Queens Boulevard.

Noon. The city’s Mental Health, Mental Retardation, Alcoholism, Drug Abuse & Disability Services Committee will meet at City Hall.

12:45 p.m. The Brennan Center for Justice presents Political Responses to Income Inequality: How Democracy and Justice Affect Marginalized Groups featuring Professor Dorian Warren of Columbia University at the Brennan Center for Justice, 161 Avenue of the Americas.

5:30 p.m. City Comptroller William Thompson and the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee will host a Greek Heritage & Culture Celebration, featuring honorees American Idol singer Constantine Maroulis and journalist Nicholas Gage, at the Council Chamber at City Hall.

6 p.m. Comedians Azhar Usman and Rabbi Bob Alper will perform at One Muslim, One Jew, One Stage: Interfaith Comedy Show & Fundraiser, benefiting the establishment of a permanent prayer space for the New York University Islamic Center, at the Kimmel Center for University Life, 60 Washington Square South.

6:45 p.m. Ray Beckerman, will be discussing his recent work defending those accused of copyright infringement by the RIAA and the question of whether “making available” constitutes an infringement of the RIAA’s copyright at a round table discussion on the Recording Industry v. 7 p.m. The New York Young Republican Club holds a general meeting featuring guest speaker Grover Norquist, president of the Americans for Tax Reform, at the Union League Club, 38 East 37th Street between Park and Madison.

7 p.m. Water for People of NYC present the 3rd Annual NYC Comedy Night benefit to support bringing clean drinking water and sanitation to rural communities in India, Malawi, Bolivia, Guatemala, and other countries at the Stand Up NY Comedy Club, 236 West 78th Street at Broadway. Lynne Koplitz of Comedy Central Presents, Rich Vos of Last Comic Standing and Patrice Oneal of VH1’s webjunk, will perform at 7 p.m. Koplitz, Jim Norton of HBO’s Lucky Louie, Darrell Hammond of Saturday Night Live, and Eric Alexander of Spike TV and Showtime at the Apollo will perform at 9 p.m.
