The fact that Eliot Spitzer is a recipient of former Assemblyman Ryan Karben's largesse is noteworthy not only because of the amount of money Karben is pledging to raise ($100,000, minimum) but also because of the unusual circumstances surrounding his departure from the legislature.

For the record, though, Spitzer isn't the only one he's given money to recently. Karben, a Democrat, also donated $2,500 (via his Hudson Valley Environmental Action Fund) to the New York State Republican Campaign Committee.
