		<description><![CDATA[<pre> <p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Arial Narrow" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt">Forest City Ratner is stopping “all abatement and  demolition activities” on the Atlantic Yards complex the day after the  parapet  of a building fell five stories to earth, damaging cars and prompting the  evacuation of 350 neighbors. </span></font></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Arial Narrow" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt">The decision was made jointly by the developer and the  state agency overseeing the project, the Empire State Development Corporation,  according to an ESDC statement issued this morning.  </span></font></p>  <p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Arial Narrow" size="2"><span style="font-size: 10pt">The company, in its own statement, said that it would  suspend work until the city Department of Buildings concludes an investigation  of what caused the collapse “</span></font><font face="Courier New"><span style="font-family: 'Courier New'">or the City directs us otherwise.” <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/27/nyregion/27atlantic.html?_r=1&amp;ref=nyregion&amp;oref=slogin"><em>The New  York Times</em></a> this morning said that fire officials speculated the short rooftop  wall which fell may have been weakened by last week’s rain. </span></font></p></pre>
