8 a.m. Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe, Rep. Charles Rangel and eight world-class runners and medical professionals will participate in a fitness jamboree including health fair and sports activities at Icahn Stadium, Randall's Island Park.

8 a.m. Women will celebrate Mother's Day by building affordable homes at Halsey Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard, in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

9:30 a.m. The 9th Annual Blessing of the Bikes will take place in remembrance of those who died in city cycling accidents. Priests will sprinkle holy water on the bikes and a moment of silence will be held in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street.

10 a.m. Elected officials and community leaders lead walk to raise awareness of domestic violence beginning at Fulton Street and New York Avenue.

10 a.m. The Queens County Republican Party Candidates’ School, featuring instruction on petitioning, fundraising and campaign organization from political consultants and party leaders, at the Adria Hotel and Conference Center, 221-17 Northern Boulevard, in Bayside, Queens.

11 a.m. New York for Obama will host an Obamathon, a fundraising walk and festival in support of Sen. Barack Obama's presidential run in Battery Park.
11 a.m. Local youth will hand out Mother's Day cards urging moms to stop smoking at the entrance to Central Park at the northeast corner of Central Park West and Central Park South by Columbus Circle.

11 a.m. The Walk Against Gun Violence and rally sponsored by St. Anne's Episcopal Church, New Yorkers Against Gun Violence and the American Friends Service Committee, will begin at 139th Street and Brook Avenue in the Bronx and ends with a rally at noon on 141st Street and St. Ann's Avenue.

11 a.m. Congressman Gregory Meeks will host the 6th Congressional U.S. Citizenship swearing-in ceremony at First Presbyterian Church, 89-60 164th Street, in Jamaica, Queens.

11 a.m. Sen. Ruben Diaz and the CUNY Citizenship and Immigration Project will host a CITIZENSHIP NOW! Immigration Assistance Day event at Hostos Community College, 120 East 149th Street at Walton Avenue, in the Bronx.

1 p.m. Immigrant rights groups will discuss migrant rights and families facing detention and deportation at a private meeting with a United Nations expert at The Cooper Union, 51 Astor Place at Third Avenue.

1 p.m. Council member Letitia James, Assemblyman Joseph Lentol and Fort Greene-Clinton Hill residents will protest the construction of a 16-story tower at 163 Washington Avenue in Brooklyn.

4 p.m. A fundraiser to support Democrat Peter Harckam in his race for the Westchester County Board Of Legislators will take place at the home of David Menken and Julie Stern at 60 Quarry Lane in Bedford, New York.

6 p.m. The Committee to Save St. Brigid's Church will hold a benefit to stop the demolition of the church at Solas, 232 East 9th Street between Second and Third avenues.
