BOING … BOING … BJÖRK! Our thoughts have been with our home-state governor, Jon Corzine, and we’re sad that he won’t be able to make his own honoring, along with Eliot Spitzer (Spitzer? We just met her!), director Michael Gondry, Björk (yea), and Klara and Larry Silverstein (“Here’s where the sidewalk ends!”), at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s spring benefit. There will be fizzy drinks, art installations (“braided hair and a life-size horse sculpture”—run for the hills!) and shiny elbow-rubbing at 7 World Trade, where we’re too scared to even use the bathroom …. Next! Much (much) further north, the great Michael J. Fox, painter Chuck Close and Nobel Prize–winning scientist Harold Varmus are at the 92nd Street Y to discuss stem-cell research. And hey, if you happen to be in Staten Island (no judgments), take advantage of Mental Health Celebration Day, where there will be free food, raffles, prizes and—is this really wise?—clowns.
