Blame Canada! Is it just us, or are Canadians the most annoying people in New York, with their earnest, ingratiating manner and their fondness for thick stacks of pancakes? Today, they raise a Labatt Blue in honor of Canada Day, the anniversary of the crown’s bestowing of royal assent to the British North America Act. Doesn’t have quite the same ring as “independence,” does it? Me-ouch! Meanwhile, barefooted wankers bring their tubs of hummus, bunches of grapes and big picnic blankets to Bryant Park for a screening of Paper Moon, the 1973 comedy about Depression-era father-daughter scam artists, starring hothead Ryan O’Neal and his real-life daughter, Tatum.
