Now it’s Mort Zuckerman’s turn to cash in on all-time record office rents.
Mr. Zuckerman, fresh off his New Yorker profile this week, has finalized a deal with Ramius Capital, an investment firm that will move into his 599 Lexington Avenue. The deal is a 15-year lease for 82,000 square feet, a source said.
Ramius will take space on the 19th, 20th, 21st and part of the 23rd floors. Asking rents can start as high as $135 in the building, but this deal was done at a trimmer rate, closer to somewhere in the $90’s, a source said.
CB Richard Ellis brokers John Powers, Ben Friedland, Len DiMicelli and Sacha Zarba represented Mr. Zuckerman’s Boston Properties. And CBRE brokers Derrick Ades, Tim Dempsey and Brian Feil represented Ramius Capital. All declined to be interviewed for this story.
