Chef Laurent Tourondel’s new restaurant at the Trump SoHo Condo-Hotel is one step closer to becoming a reality.
The Observer recently learned that BLT Management LLC has closed on 22,000 square feet of space at 246 Spring Street, the site of the Trump project.
The restaurant, called BLT Soho, will be Mr. Tourondel’s fifth in the city. He also has BLT Steak at 106 East 57th Street, BLT Fish at 21 West 17th Street, BLT Prime at 111 East 22nd Street, and BLT Burger at 470 Sixth Avenue. The Real Deal reported the coming of BLT Soho back in December.
And the restaurant may even have a roof over its head, as the Trump SoHo Condo-Hotel is finally ready to break ground. After a year-long debate, the city approved construction plans in May for the 45-story project at 246 Spring Street.
Backed by the Trump and the Sapir organizations, the hotel would be the first in New York in an area specifically zoned for manufacturing. The plans were approved even though opponents maintain that the condo-hotel violates the zoning of the site, which prohibits any residential usage.
Calls to see when BLT Soho would open its doors were not immeditaly returned.
