11 a.m. A ground breaking for playground at Morningside Park will be held at West 116th Street and Morningside Avenue.

11 a.m. The Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty will distribute kosher food for Rosh Hashanah at the Ocean View Jewish Center, 3100 Brighton Fourth Street between Brighton Beach Avenue and Bright Water Court, in Brooklyn.

Noon. Workers will protest the closing of a restaurant in retaliation for a wage lawsuit at Devi Restaurant, 8 East 18th Street between Broadway and Fifth Avenue.

8 p.m. New York State Young Democrats will hold their annual fundraiser at NY Perks, 192 Smith Street at Warren Street, in Brooklyn.
