Moving Day at the Open

The upset-scythe sliced down Sharapova, Martina Hingis, no. 11 seed Patty Schnyder and no. 7 seed Nadia Petrova. Hingis said her mom texted her this morning saying: ‘Watch out.’ Hingis, who barely escaped her last match, lost to the 18-year-old Victoria Azarenka 6-0 in the third set.

On the winner’s side, the Russian Anna Chakvetadze won in straight sets and suddenly has a realistic shot at the finals. Roger Federer dropped one set to John Isner, before blowing him away in four. The other American Donald Young is also done.

Andy Roddick dropped only five games today and Nikolay Davydenko and Tomas Berdych won in straight sets. Tommy Haas moves onto the fourth round and could be awaiting James Blake.
