Stanley bows out

District 28 Assemblyman Craig Stanley today conceded the primary election after consulting with his lawyer.

“We would have been in court today,” Stanley told PoliticsNJ.com. “But in the absence of strong evidence suggesting a sufficient number of votes were tainted, I am going to withdraw.”

The Chairman of the Assembly Education Committee and a veteran of the Assembly since 1996, Stanley lost in the primary to Cleopatra Tucker by fewer than 130 votes after the Democratic Party supported a slate of candidatesbacked by Mayor Cory Booker and Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo.
