At Clinton’s After-Party, Talk of Primary, General

After Hillary Clinton’s birthday party and fund-raiser at the Beacon Theater last night, some of her top donors and supporters loaded themselves into shuttle busses that took them to the Russian Tea Room. Inside, Bill and Hillary mingled with the special guests.

In attendance were Representatives Nita Lowey and Gary Ackerman, star fund-raisers Alan Patricof, Maureen White, Robert Zimmerman and Hassan Nemazee, and celebrity liberals like Ron Howard.

One longtime Clinton supporter who was present at the party reports that while attendees ate appetizers and sipped on champagne, wine and soda and juices (but no vodka–at the Russian Tea Room), there was an overall air of confidence in the room. Still, the supporters, the more politically inclined attendees talked about the challenges Clinton still faced.

"Some in the room were looking ahead and already focusing on the general, some were focusing on the primary," said the supporter. "The smart ones were concerned about the primary."
