Mayor Michael Bloomberg told a crowd in front of City Hall today that all the woes Mr. Spitzer faced early on in his governorship add up to little more than “teething problems.”

Mr. Bloomberg, who lives only a few doors down from Mr. Spitzer on the Upper East Side, didn’t stop there. He said that the governor would probably “like me to go to Oswego County in the middle of winter.”

Then he reigned it all in.

“I think Eliot Spitzer will turn out to be a very good governor of this state.”

And, for the record, the mayor still has no intentions of running for president. Tomorrow, on the other hand, is another day.
