Kiddie Haircuttery Comes To Queens

Frankie’s Playce, billed as "the only full-service toy store in Queens to incorporate children’s haircutting," will open next month at The Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale.

The chop shop for tots is among several newly signed tenants at the 12-acre open-air shopping center, managing agent Atco Properties announced today.

M12ThirtyOne, described as "a Soho-style men’s clothing boutique," also opens in November.

Trendy Men’s Clothing Retailer, Day Spa and Upscale Children’s Toy Store Among New Leases at Queens’ Premier Open-Air Shopping Destination

GLENDALE, NEW YORK – OCTOBER 25, 2007 – The Shops at Atlas Park will soon welcome 11 new tenants, including one local dance studio, 8 retailers and 2 office tenants, bringing the total number of tenants at the lifestyle retail center – New York City’s first — up to 57.

Atlas Park LLC, a division of Atco Properties and Management, Inc., the Manhattan-based managing agent for commercial and residential properties throughout the New York area, has signed long-term leasing agreements with all eleven companies. The new tenants, which combined occupy approximately 20,000 square feet of space, include The UPS Store, Advance Health Nutrition, Chopin Chemists, Dance & Beyond, Floris Day Spa and Nails, Frankie’s Playce, M12ThirtyOne, NY Sun Club Tanning, Precise Optique, PSI Examination Services and R.K. Gupta Corp.

“These tenants help provide a more complete shopping experience to our customers,” said Damon Hemmerdinger, Atlas Park’s development director. “We are adding a toy store, fashionable men’s store, day spa, tanning salon, eyeglasses, and other local boutiques. We are also pleased to be filling up our office space, which helps drive daytime traffic.”

The Shops at Atlas Park will welcome the 11 new tenants between November 2007 and March 2008. All of the negotiations, excluding PSI, Floris Day Spa, and UPS, were handled entirely in-house by A&Co. Chopin Chemists, a local pharmacy, occupies approximately 1,800 square feet of space facing Market Plaza and is scheduled to open in December 2007. Nina Maurello of A&Co. represented the landlord on the deal. Rent: $60 per square foot.

Precise Optique, an optical store, occupies more than 1,050 square feet of space. The business is scheduled to open directly across from Art World in December 2007. Nina Maurello of A&Co. represented the landlord on the deal. Rent: $45 per square foot.

The UPS Store, the international shipping giant, occupies approximately 912 square feet and is scheduled to open in December 2007. First Development Corporation represented UPS, and Nina Maurello of A&Co. represented the landlord on the deal. Rent: $55 per square foot.

New York Sun Club Tanning, a 2,000-square-foot, full-service tanning salon, is scheduled to open in February 2008. Nina Maurello of A&Co. represented the landlord on the deal. Rent: $45 per square foot.

Dance & Beyond, a fully operating dance studio, will occupy approximately 1,650 square feet of space at the basement level starting in March 2008. John Cinosky of Atco Property Services and Dante Amenta of A&Co. represented the landlord on the deal. Rent: $30 per square foot.

Gupta Cranes, an internationally based company specializing in the exportation of cranes to the Middle East and India, will occupy 1,010 square feet of space on the third floor of The Offices at Market Plaza starting November 1st. PSI Exam Services, a national provider of licensing exams, will lease approximately 1,850 square feet of space in Market Plaza and is scheduled to open in November 2007.
