We’re over global warming … It’s real and it’s getting on our noives—the ice caps disappearing and the polar bears having to just be called “bears,” yes, but the final straw was having to deal with horrible sticky frizzy humidity in October—which should be the crispest and bestest month ever. Somebody get Al Gore a Klondike Bar! Meanwhile, tonight at the Waldorf-Astoria—you should hear their toilets flush, they go Whoosh!—there’s a benefit for another cause that scares the stuffing out of us: the “Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered” Alzheimer’s Association Rita Hayworth Gala. Hayworth’s daughter, Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, established the gala in memory of her mother, who suffered from the disease. The party will be “inspired by the legendary Rita Hayworth film Pal Joey,” and expected to attend are Dan Ackroyd and his wife (Bosom Buddies!), Donna Dixon; Muffie Potter Aston; and Anne R. Hearst, among other well-plumed others. And Patty Smith performs! Moving on, Marc Jacobs, fresh in from the Paris shows (and boy are his arms tired!), is honored alongside his company president Robert Duffy at the N.Y.U. Cancer Institute Gala for their awareness campaign for melanoma research. Partygoers will swan about the Mandarin Oriental at Columbus Circle, and our big question for Mr. Jacobs is, Will that luggage in The Darjeeling Limited be eligible for a Best Supporting Oscar? More charity doings unfold at Chelsea Pier, where American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin sings and art galleries display their wares at an Art Rocks! benefit for the pediatric program of Columbia University’s Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center. And lastly, have you ever dreamed of being in Architectural Digest? Today is your lucky day, as there will be an open audition for new talent to show their work to editors and judges. Dust off those Lincoln Logs!
