Union County Republican Chairman Phil Morin said he’s not surprised that his Democratic counterpart, Charlotte DeFilippo, is under investigation by the Attorney General’s office.
According to a Star-Ledger story from this morning, DeFilippo has received subpoenas from the state relating to her work as head of the county’s improvement authority, her work as an aide to Assemblyman Neil Cohen, the county party’s role in last year’s Roselle Democratic primary, and records from a title company she holds a stake in.
“The revelation that Union County Democratic Chairwoman Charlotte DeFilippo and other Union County Democrats were plastered with subpoenas relating to her web of questionable public and private business dealings comes as no surprise,” said Morin in a statement. “It looks like Ms. DeFilippo and the Union County Democrats will have a lot of explaining to do to state criminal investigators over the next few months.”
DeFilippo could not immediately be reached for comment.
