When The Observer broke the news last week that venture capitalist Lionel Pincus (Jordan’s Princess Firyal’s companion) had listed his 12-room duplex at The Pierre for $50 million, the Corcoran Group’s Web site sadly hadn’t put up the floorplan.
But, lo, things have changed. And what does one learn about the apartment? Well, for starters, there are 31 closets, not counting the co-op’s four walk-in closets, or the master suite’s 17.75-foot-long sitting room and 16-foot-long dressing room, or the 16-foot-long wood-paneled dressing room upstairs with direct Central Park views.
Downstairs, the Central Park views are mostly taken up by the 41.5-foot-long library/media room, which leads to the island wet bar (with sink) and then the living room. Upstairs, the Park views belong to a second master bedroom, this one 30 feet long, but also the study and that wood-paneled dressing room.
Fifty million also buys you two kitchens and one pantry, plus a hefty exercise room.
But on the downside, broker Joan Kaplan has slyly changed the official bedroom count on her Web site from last week’s seven to six, and, even worse, her written description says there are "4-5 Master Bedrooms." (The counting difference probably depends on what high-nosed people would call a "maid’s room" instead of a real "bedroom.")
But the difference between four and seven bedrooms isn’t all that bad when you think about the private marble elevator–and closet space.
