As expected, two of New York’s largest unions, SEIU locals 1199 and 32BJ, just endorsed hometown candidate Hillary Clinton.
Since locals in other states are free to endorse different candidates, there’s a limit on how much this actually helps her.
“We can only campaign in states where a similar endorsement has been done,” 32BJ President Mike Fishman explained on a conference call with reporters just now. So far, that would preclude Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
They would, at least, be able to call or send mail to retired members living in those states. Which is something.
