Candidate Petitioning to Make City Council Full-Time

Bob Zuckerman, past president of the Stonewall Democratic Club and prospective City Council candidate in Brooklyn’s 39th District, thinks the job of a Council member should be considered full-time. (It’s currently part-time.)

At a hearing yesterday, Zuckerman brought the issue up again and said he now has a web site,

From the site:

“New York City Councilmembers earn a base salary of $112,500 per year. The median household income for New York City is $43,400. Don’t you think its time to ban outside employment for city council members?”

There’s also a petition.

Any guesses as to how many Council members or candidates will sign?
