Expect Michael Bloomberg to call for a charter revision commission (I’m not sure for what) and to discuss gun control at his State of the City speech, which will begin at 1p.m. here at Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Specifically on guns, which has been a major initiative of his second term, Bloomberg will talk about microstamping (which Arnold Schwarzenegger supports for California).
If microstamping is made law, gun manufacturers would be required to design the barrels of their gun so that they leave an easily identifiable mark on the shell casings of bullets. Presumably, it would help law enforcement agents track them.
Spotted in attendance so far at the speech are Gail Hilson, an Upper East Side socialite who thinks Bloomberg would make a "great" President, and Democrat Claire Shulman, former Queens Borough President, who endorsed Bloomberg–the Republican–for re-election.
